From the Itinerary: leave Gootbos at 10 am and travel back to Cape Town. Afternoon at leisure. Stay at Parker Cottage. Dinner with Christine Fromm &Beyond

Weather: Sunny and 15C

A beautiful, sunny day

A sad last breakfast leaving our new friends at the Forest Lodge. Lisa had a beautiful eggs Benedict, Rob had porridge and I had partial English Breakfast. They had such tasty scones this morning!

We got on the road at about 10 and drove to Hermanus to admire the views and the rock Hyrax.

And to a nearby farm store that specialized in pies

We continued on to Sir Lowry’s Pass for the view, but no baboons sited anywhere along the route.

Arriving at about 1:30, we stayed in the award winning Parker Cottage bed and breakfast for the night

Lisa and Rob did a more extensive tour of the city and I felt I needed a walk. Even though I’d been to Cape Town 20 years ago, I’d never been to the Aquarium, so decided to walk. This took me through some rather dodgy areas and the 1.5 miles turned out to be over 2 each way - at least the weather was good.

Along the way there was a sea lion who greated you, visible at the final bridge before the aquarium

There were a number of interesting exhibits including jelly fish

The acquarium is known for its penguin exhibit. There were some cute ones!

And some scary sharks

Then over to the diamond museum. This place was actually rather interesting and I learned a lot about the history of S. Africa diamonds, as well as what they look like in the rocks when they come out of the ground. The highlight was at the end when I was allowed to try on a 3 and 8 carrot diamond ring.

Then time to return to the hotel. I was able to get a good photo of Table Mountain

Tonight Lisa arranged for us to meet and eat with Christine, our agent at &Beyond. While waiting, we drank the 2 mini-bottles of champagne I took from Forest Lodge. Mr. Bunny helped.

We walked to dinner at Miller’s Thumb. I had a salad, then blackened Kob Fish and the ice cream tower with carmel sauce (thank goodness I had some help with that….)
