Final Expedition in Atacama and back to Santiago

3/12/22 and our last day at San Pedro de Atacama. We saw the sun

rise from the top floor and enjoyed some minutes of quiet before breakfast and the day.

We decided to end our Atacama experience by doing a horse ride Along the Dunas de la Chula. It was 2 hours and the horses were calm. We enjoyed riding along and seeing the world from a slightly different angle. At the end I felt pretty stiff- using muscles in a different way.

We got packed and had a last meal at the hotel with a Pisco sour. We also got a sandwich/packed lunch for the ride which we never ate and then did the 100 kilometers back to the Calama Airport. Along the way we saw the wind farm and mine we missed in the way out.

Chris had vip club pass so we were able to stay in a lounge during the 90 minute wait- that said the electricity was off so no coffee or WiFi. They did have bottled Pisco sours:)

The lounge was empty until a whole bunch of people came in- the group of trainee guides from yesterday’s waterfall hike?

At least LATAM allowed group 1 to board first and the flight was uneventful. Food was awful, but coffee was Good. We had a quiet and quick night at the Santiago Holiday Inn with a nutritious dinner of Pisco sour and French fries before continuous trip to Patagonia.
