Going to Chile

2 years in the making and the day has finally come to take our trip to Chile. Chris made all these reservations just as Covid was starting and the trip has now changed about 5 times. We are finally leaving on 5 March 2022. The itinerary now, unfortunately, doesn’t include Galapagos or Easter Island, but these will keep for another day. Our trip this time is to Atacama and Patagonia. We are taking bets that our flight will actually leave and that we will be able to enter the country.

Our flight is one of the longest BA does - 14 hours - from London to Santiago. The flight is very late - 22:25. Yesterday BA changed our seats from 1 and 2 K to 1 and 2 A - and we were concerned that something bizarre was going on. Maybe a different plane or broken seats? Chris called and it appears that everything is ok and the plane us totally full.

We wore our snazzy zebra striped masks.

We got to the airport very early - about 6:30 pm - because we were concerned that we couldn’t get our boarding passes and we concerned about possible long checkin lines. The agent also couldn’t figure out what the problem was, so had to make some calls. Anyway, we finally got our boarding passes. Then Chris had some issues with his liquids bag at x-ray and I had to take some of his liquids.

Did I mention we are going first class!

We had dinner in the Concorde lounge to pass the time. This included Laurent Perrier champagne, soup, a vege burger and some cheese. Chris never got his soup. Anne started falling asleep in the lounge.

Couldn’t get our boarding passes but didn’t know why. The check in agent also had some issues getting them.
