Hacketstown - base for Ireland month #2

Hacketstown is where I stayed for the second month I spent in Ireland. I chose it because a)the apartment was less expensive and b)it was in the East of Ireland, not far from the Wicklow Mountains and about 90 minutes from Newgrange. The apartment was nice except it was on top of a pub in a building that was built in 1901. The floor was uneven and I felt a bit drunk whenever I walked down the hall:) The outside streets were very narrow and very large trucks would maneuver them - each time I was sure that they would take off a corner of one of the surrounding buildings. They would start at about 5am and the pub, closed until the last week I stayed there, was open until about midnight - so not much sleep. The worst noise was of the shopping carts from the Supervalu across the street as they clattered along the street. There was a hill nearby which made for good hiking on bad weather days. A cross was on top and at night it shined red - in a high wind it moved!
