Iceland Day 9: Exploring Thorsmork and back to Reykjavik

From my itinerary: Today you start a little more slowly with a leisurely breakfast. You can then take some time to explore the amazing Þórsmörk surroundings before the group starts to make its way back to the city. There is a final hike up Mount Útigönguhöfði giving a fantastic overview of the whole valley. Those who prefer to can simply spend more time relaxing and enjoying the spectacular nature in this very beautiful place. On the journey back to Reykjavik, you will get a glimpse of the majestic waterfall, Seljalandsfoss, one of the most popular attractions in Iceland. You can expect to return to Reykjavik in the early evening at around 18:30.

As mentioned yesterday I did not go on the hike up Mount Útigönguhöfði, but instead hiked over to the "volcano huts" which is a nice walk, but still painful on my ankle.

Driving out the bus has to pump up its wheels in order to cross rivers without the option of a bridge. It's a pretty amazing drive out and back to civilization.

This included a drive by the Seljalandsfoss mentioned in today's itinerary, but am not sorry we didn't stop because I will be stopping there on the last day of my drive around the island.

It is nice to be back at the Borg Hotel again, a normal hotel and sleeping by myself. I hope my ankle will start to heal now and wonder whether it will ever be "normal" again.
