Mini-Break to Dubrovnik

Left today (10 July 2022) for our mini- break to Dubrovnik. These posts will be a bit short until I get back- forgot my keyboard so am thumb-typing:).

First time taking the train to Gatwick- convenient and half the price of a taxi(£60 vs £200)- and possibly faster if there are issues on the M23 or M25.

Weather is hot,hot,hot and humid.

Very busy airport- lots of people - am missing the one good think about Covid- no one was traveling and everything was empty.

Lounge was quite nice and back up (almost) to pre-Covid standards. Had our traditional pre-flight champagne toast, some soup, egg/cress sandwiches and cream scone.

Our gate was in the one non- air conditioned part of airport and BA like to call early for boarding and waited around thinking cool thoughts for about 30 minutes.

Best news was the meal was actually good. Chris had bangers/mash and I had pumpkin ravioli.

it was 9pm when we landed and could see the coast on the way down - very pretty. About 15 minute drive to the Hilton Imperial Palace Hotel which is beautiful. This was the first night of the Summer Festival- first one in 3 years- and we were in time to see the fireworks. Beautiful views of the old town, forts and sea from our balcony. No pictures tonight, but lots coming tomorrow.
