Returning Home

7 September, 2023, from the itinerary: Say goodbye to Japan at your leisure and buy a souvenir or two before departing Haneda for your journey home.

I had breakfast in my room, which included dessert from last night which they forgot to serve....

Lots to do today and trying not to sweat through all my clothing while doing it....

I took a very long metro ride out to Haneda Airport (about an hour). It took about an hour and I didn't think that this is the middle of the rush hour on the Tokyo metro, so very crowded. Thank goodness no one had to push us on.

Once at the airport I thankfully checked in a suitcase at the Lufthansa desk only to be told my seat was broken (again) and they moved me to another seat. Two things - my seat was broken on my flight out (different seat, different plane) and I specifically wanted a seat in the center section so no one was climbing over me. More on this later.

I remembered to mail my portable wifi unit back - second best money spent on this trip (after the Y400 spent on the air conditioning).

Went to the lounge for awhile until I could get to the gate and start complaining about my seat change. There was someone next to me and I was on the side, so that person would be climbing next to me. I complained off/on for about 40 minutes and they finally found me another seat in the configuration area I wanted. What I hadn't realized is I was a row behind 1 year old twins (eye roll)... for a flight lasting 13.45 hours.

Thankfully they were active parents and the kids slept most of the way.

The day got better when I realized I booked my Oslo lay-over hotel (Radisson Blu) for wrong night. Thankfully I was able to change that mistake for only about $50.

I found Swedish Fish in Oslo Airport, right near the BA lounge where Bunny and I had some drinks while waiting for the final flight to LHR. From there it was train back home.

All in all, a great adventure in Japan. I will be working on a "highlights" blog in a bit.
