The Destination Birth Day

July 2 is Kimberlee's birthday. She decided she was 57, but she was really 56 today. That was a funny moment when she realized she was one year off and had to recalculate her retirement plan.

Today was a day off for me and I hung around the villa until dinner. In the morning Elisabeth and I walked into the village, had several coffees and got to know each other. There are very few people who have similar experiences in Russia and have my same view on the United States. We are both rather disgusted with the US and feel helpless. We also both live overseas because of this feeling.

The barrista at the coffee shop was an interesting guy. He was very into Punk Rock, dressed in leather and lots of piercings. He also had a tracheotomy and had to press a button on his throat to talk.

We ran into Sonia and Wendy and returned via the ice cream store.

Upon coming back, I spent some time by the pool. I found out that Omar and Nadine had only been married one year - here they are in the pool.

The birthday dinner was set up outside. Thank goodness there were some mosquito coils.

We had an interesting visual: when you looked at the house from the patio the rooms looked like an advent calendar. When the occupants opened their window, it was as they opened the window in the calendar.

It was supposed to be themed on a traditional Tuscany dinner.

There were a number of speeches at dinner. Very emotional. Very loud. I don't do well in "loud".

A beautiful full moon. From our room you can see downtown Florence and the Duomo.
