Landing in AlUla

Landing in AlUla the weather was a "cool" 38 degrees, but the breeze felt nice. We were met by our driver and driven to the Sahary Resort in a canyon. The mountain canyon was lit by purple lights and looked beautiful. I was skeptical because the other, more expensive, travel agent had us in the Shaadan Dessert Resort, but Sahary turned out to be just fine. Our room is in a 20foot shipping container made to look like a tent. The air conditioning works really well; however, I believe they had the pest control recently and that smelled awful in the bathroom area.
The first night we were awakened by cats howling and running across our roof, but it was fun to wake up and see the cat sleeping on the roof corner.
As I was actually there I would beg to differ with 93% of the above. It is true we were picked up at the airport (well done Anne for getting this right). The Sahary resort actually is rated as high or more highly than the other place mentioned. The shipping containers are actually aluminium structures covered in cloth to fit in with the surroundings - the "other place" has the same "containers. The air conditioning also works well (thats 2 things right) but the place smelled ok as far as I could tell other than the usual stale water smell often found in these places. As for the cats - one jumped on the roof and meowed a little but…
