We are off to Patagonia

It's March 23 and we are off to Patagonia today. From the itinerary:

Get up at 4:50am for our 8:16 am flight to Panama City. Change planes and fly to Santiago, arriving at 20:15. Transfer to the Airport Holiday Inn for some pisco sours. Wake up at 3am for our 5:35am flight to Puerto Natales (PNT). Arriving at 9 where we cool our heels at the airport for 3 hours until our bus comes at noon. Take the bus to Torres del Paine, about 2 1/4 hours to the Explora hotel. This is the last flight LATAM flight to PNT for the season.

So this post is a catch up post for what's been going on up to now.

We left from London Heathrow on March 18 with 8 pieces of luggage - another traunch of my household goods that should have gone to Florida instead of the UK - that's content for another blog on another day.

It was a nice flight

Amazingly all the boxes made it and we were able to bring the luggage carts from the carrousel all the way to the rental car center to the car. As these things go, it was a painless process and everything, including a shell mirror my grandmother made, arrived unbroken.

Because it was so late (8:30pm) we spent the night at an airport hotel and drove up from Miami to Jacksonville Beach the following day. Again, good luck with the boxes because the hotel had luggage carts.

The 4 hour drive up from Miami was without incident and we spent 3 uneventful days at the condo before leaving for the 2 hour drive to Orlando - minus 6 large boxes - yay.

(On the route to Orlando there was a pull out area with lots of stop signs)

We stayed at the Double Tree near the Orlando Airport. A very bizarre hotel which must have hosted a convention for fat, sunburned, white men with ball caps.

We are now at the airport lounge having some drinks and mentally preparing for what appears to be quite a travel odyssey to Torres.
