We Finally See Everest - Better Late Than Never....

October 2, 2019, from the itinerary: Descend through Namche to Monzo The walk to Namche Bazaar takes us along a beautiful undulating trail high above the Dudh Kosi. We have some time in Namche and after lunch we descend through Namche Bazaar and pick up our outward trail again to Monzo, where we stay tonight. Tea-house (sleeping altitude 2,850m) and we walk down 750 meters over 7 miles.

Today's route

Here's a picture of our room in the tea house at the start of the day - Chanel - very chic.

We did a group shot with the mountains in the back.

What a beautiful day. Weather was wonderful and WE FINALLY SAW EVEREST!!! I'm pointing to it - it's underwhelming by this point....

Here are dozens of pictures taken at the stupa along the Dudh Kosi. You can see the approach, the stupa, the valley, the mountains and THE mountain.

We walked back through the Sagarmatha National Park and eventually cross the river. Here's a fun video of the crossing.

And more yaks along the way....

Namche Bazaar was an enjoyable stop and after lunch I did some shopping buying a buff with the map of our trek. We walked past the original North Face shop.

We went to a local mountaineering museum. Knots fascinate me and here are some used in mountaineering.

We got down to the end of the valley walk and looked up the hill at a tangent. You could see A LOT of people walking at the top along the trail where we started. I tried to get a picture through the binoculars to get better visibility and you can see a continual line of hikers going up. Our route, besides being different than theirs, was empty - yay.

We had a bit of a root march to Monza and the tea house along the flat valley bottom at a fast pace just to get there.

It was kind of an interesting tea house in Monzo with "dutch double doors" on all the rooms - Here's John looking out of his and you can see me in mine.

Here's a picture of a typical shower room too.

There was a bizarre sign for the night's entertainment. I have no idea what this was - some sort of curry over rice - but it looks disgusting....
