We've been to South America to places other than Machu Picchu several times.  This page talks about those trips.  Besides our trips to Buenos Aires every 5 years, we've branched out to Peru and Chile.

Chile:  Timing is everything and ours was poor for the trip planned to Galapagos and Easter Island (No. 2).  Chris set up that trip in December of 2019 and, sure enough, covid set in meaning the trip itinerary was changed about 5 times until we finally went in March of 2022.  Unfortunately Galapagos and Easter Island are still closed, so we have these to look forward to in the near future.  We did go to Patagonia and Atacama and these blogs are below, or you can search on Chile/South America.  Highlights: Starry skies, Vicuhna, Viscachas, Guanacos, Huemules, Flickers, fuschia, beautiful blue water, drinking direct from the streams, mountains, pampas.

Ecuador:  2023 started with a 10 day trip to Mindo and Napo to see birds, butterflies, orchids in the cloud forest.  I went with Lisa, Rob, and Ann.  Chris was working:). This trip went from 7-18 January.
